In the short term, the black exterior fabric heats up faster than the light grey one. However, the insulating core of the thermal material prevents heat from immediately entering the interior. In the long term, both variants insulate approximately equally well.

Crucial for insulation against heat from sunlight is preventing the greenhouse effect in the vehicle. This is achieved by darkening the windows. The black outer fabric has a small advantage here, as almost no light penetrates the black-coated material. The black outer fabric is therefore also recommended for late risers — and for "undercover camping", since the black material is not immediately recognisable as a thermal mat from the outside.

Our Recommendation: If you park your campervan in the sun for weeks at temperatures above 25 degrees, we recommend the light grey exterior material. Otherwise, you can confidently use the black variant.
